Hello and Welcome!

This blog is about the experiences of two sisters as they travel the world on and off over several years. Our blog starts with our first major backpacking trip in 2010 to Southeast Asia. After catching the travel bug, we subsequently explored the world both individually and together. From seeing the colosseum in Rome, to trekking to Manchu Picchu in Peru, to rock climbing in Joshua Tree, we have allowed our experiences to help us grow in few ways other things can. Our goal for this blog is not only to capture our memories, but to share all of our experiences with the people we love! We hope you enjoy!

Things we miss about Canada :)

After being in Southeast Asia for over two months, Ali and I began to miss some of the luxuries of home. While trekking in the Himalayas we wrote down all of the things we missed and all the things we were excited to get back to. Here’s what we came up with, conveniently dividing into categories J for you viewing pleasure:

Food & Drinks
  1. knowing tomato ketchup is actually tomato ketchup
  2. getting more than 10 fries with a meal
  3. not having to worry about the spiciness of a meal or if it will upset your stomach

General
  1. Mom and dad J
  2. Friends and family
  3. Reliable internet connections
  4. Both Ali and Caitlin being in good health at the same time!
  5. Health Care
  6. FREE washrooms, showers and running water
  7. Toilet paper!
  8. Being able to walk down a street without being harassed
  9. Being able to use our regular vocabulary
  10. Having a price tag on things and not having to haggle over everything
  11. Knowing I’m paying the same price as everyone else regardless of the colour of our skin
  12. Being able to wear shorts and a tank top in 40 degree weather
  13. Having buses, trains, and planes that arrive on time and don’t have cockroaches on them
  14. Being able to understand the slang
  15. Not having to say we’re Canadian, not American!
  16. People not assuming we are RICH just because we are travelling
  17. Highways having regular lanes (i.e. a 3-lane highway is a 3-lane highway, not a 6-lane one!)
