Hello and Welcome!

This blog is about the experiences of two sisters as they travel the world on and off over several years. Our blog starts with our first major backpacking trip in 2010 to Southeast Asia. After catching the travel bug, we subsequently explored the world both individually and together. From seeing the colosseum in Rome, to trekking to Manchu Picchu in Peru, to rock climbing in Joshua Tree, we have allowed our experiences to help us grow in few ways other things can. Our goal for this blog is not only to capture our memories, but to share all of our experiences with the people we love! We hope you enjoy!

Back to Kathmandu

October 12 – 14th 2010

After being stranded in Lukla for a couple painful days, we finally got a flight out of Lukla and arrived back in Kathmandu. We headed back to the Tibet Peace Guesthouse and managed to get placed back into the same room as before. Unfortunately, it was now "peak season" (which was weird because it was only 2 weeks later!) in Nepal and they decided to increase the price of the 3-bed room from 400 Rupee to 700 Rupee! We checked-in and headed out for dinner. We were super excited to be out of the mountains and have more choices for dinner. For the past two weeks we had been eating strictly fried rice and momos so we ordered some pasta J

We spent the next 48 hours with our new friend, Brad (from Rhode Island), whom we had met in Lukla. We did some shopping, used the Internet for the first time in weeks, and booked our flight to Bali. Our flight left at 4:35pm on October 14th. We flew from Kathmandu to Delhi to Bangkok to Bali.

After a short flight from Kathmandu we arrived in Delhi, India. We had a 6-hour stopover before we jumped on a second flight from Delhi to Bangkok. Being in the Delhi airport was an interesting experience. We happened to be there at the end of the Commonwealth Games. All of the athletes were in the airport catching flights because closing ceremonies had just happened. The Delhi airport was a super nice airport because of the games. We ate pizza, McDonalds and had some coffee. We discovered that the McDonald’s in India had VEGGIE burgers which is offered no where else J We said goodbye to Brad here, and Ali and I jumped on our plane to Bangkok which arrived at 8:00am and then flew from Bangkok to Denpasar, Bali. We arrived in Bali in the early afternoon and were there for the next two weeks.
