Hello and Welcome!

This blog is about the experiences of two sisters as they travel the world on and off over several years. Our blog starts with our first major backpacking trip in 2010 to Southeast Asia. After catching the travel bug, we subsequently explored the world both individually and together. From seeing the colosseum in Rome, to trekking to Manchu Picchu in Peru, to rock climbing in Joshua Tree, we have allowed our experiences to help us grow in few ways other things can. Our goal for this blog is not only to capture our memories, but to share all of our experiences with the people we love! We hope you enjoy!

Back to Bangkok

September 25th – 27th 2010

After a week in Cambodia we travelled back to Bangkok for a couple nights. We took a bus on Saturday September 25th from Siem Reap to Bangkok. Crossing the border in this direction was far easier and less stressful than coming into Cambodia. We took a mini bus (a crowded, non-air-conditioned bus) to the border, received an exit stamp and then crossed over to the Thailand side quite easily as there are no visa fees for Thailand. Once across we waited about 30 minutes for a coach bus to arrive and take us from Poi Pet to Bangkok. While waiting Ali and I met a young couple from New York who were also travelling to Bangkok and then going to Nepal. We talked to them for most of the trip about their travel experiences and they gave us good advice about travelling in Bali. They we quite a nice couple, and we were sad to part ways when we reached Khao San Road.

We arrived back at Khao San Road around 6pm that night. It was odd being back in Bangkok, as the whole area felt very familiar and almost comforting. We decided to check into a different hostel as the one we stayed in on our previous time in Bangkok was really not that pleasant. We found a nicer room with air-conditioning for a similar price, checked-in and then headed out to get dinner. We once again ate pad thai at a local street vendor, and spent the night wandering the street and using the internet.

The next day was our final full day in Thailand. We spent the day shopping, hanging out in coffee shops writing postcards, and having ice cream, cake, and smoothies one last time. Monday morning we checked out of our hostel, caught an 11:00am airport shuttle, and arrived at the airport in time for our 3:15 flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. It was now time to go to the Himalayas!
